I actually run quite a few supported Guest OSes without ever installing VMware Tools so I really don't see it as a big deal. Additionally AFAIC IMO there is no good practical reason for running a beta version of an old OS that's over 10 years old and also in which the last stable release of reached it's end of mainstream support over 3 years ago. Suggest you step into the 21st century!
