Welcome to the Community,
what you can do is consolidate the snapshot by cloning the virtual disk, and changing the .vmdk's name in the configuration (.vmx) file.
The following command will create a new virtual disk "ICS410 Windows 10.vmdk" without modifying the source .vmdk files.
vmware-vdiskmanager.exe -r "Virtual Disk-000001.vmdk" -t 0 "ICS410 Windows 10.vmdk"
Unless you have vmware-vdiskmanager.exe you can download it from https://kb.vmware.com/kb/1023856 (see Attachments section).
Make sure you have VMware Workstation, or at least the VM's tab closed to make sure the configuration file is re-read after the change.

Auto Ack and clear alert
Hi expert
I have vsphere 5.1 env.
Last week ESXi host reboot occur 2 times.
1st, alert occur and Monitoring system got alert message.
2nd Monitoring system could not get alert message, because I forgot to clear vCenter alert.
So I want to clear automatic for daily.
Could you tell me automatic clear script using PowerCLI ?

with out downtime it's not possible, you required guest OS downtime . so the better way of migration is 1) create new data store using new storage LUN and power off guest VM and perform storage vmotion from old storage data store to new storage data store. 2) once it's done, power on and check the OS , old RDM LUN connectivity and services 3) after that make availability of new storage RDM LUNs to the clusters( which is the copy of old storage RDM ) 4) shutdown the guest and remove old RDM from guest and add new RDM in the same sequences 5) power on the guest and verify the data

"Cannot complete login due to an incorrect username or password" after all this? Try manually typing in DOMAIN\username and password--if that doesn't work, you need to add AD group to ESXi esxAdminsGroup as per instructions at https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2075361. Also may need to logout/login again on Windows machine where vSphere client is, to refresh Windows credentials.

vSphere Console has black edges around OS
Hello,
I have an issue which makes working from home very hard. Basically when I try to open a console I get the following:
My laptop model is Lenovo x240 with touch screen, Windows 10. I have tested it on another person's laptop which is the same model with no issues. I also have the same issue when I RDP to my work Desktop and open up the console from there. I have uninstalled and reinstalled vsphere with no luck. I have made sure to reinstall my display drivers with no luck. I have tried changing my display properties on both my laptop and the console vm.
Currently using vsphere 5.1
Any help would be appreciated.

power on vm on vSphere client installed on virbualbox virtual machine
Hi guys,
I'm using virtualbox for a while and would like to deploy a vmware environment inside virtualbox
Just installed the ESXi 5.5 & vSphere client, could see the client console, create resourcepool vm etc., however, when I tried to power on a vm, it always gave me this error: Failed to start the virtual machine.
there's no more error or details displayed.
is it okay to deploy VMware in virtualbox or how can I power on the vm in VMware?

I can confirm that I am using NetApp with datastores much bigger than 16 TB. Also I can tell you that you can install on the ESXi the NetApp NFS Plug-in for VMware VAAI which uses hardware acceleration.
- Copy offload: This process that previously took a few minutes now takes seconds and helps to reduce the traffic on the ESXi host and lower the amount of CPU utilization needed to perform this function.
- Space reservation: This feature enables creation of thick virtual disk files on NAS. Through the VAAI Reserve Space primitive, you can reserve space for the file at the time of creation.
- Native Snapshot copies for linked clones: This feature enables creation of native Snapshot copies for linked clones in a VAAI-enabled Storage Virtual Machine (SVM, formerly known as Vserver).
Have you checked all the levels on your NetApp? Do you have space and have you expanded accordingly? (check aggregate free space, volumen, even qtree if you have used the NetApp transition tool to move from 7-mode, etc...)

Connexion esxi aléatoire

Je suis en phase d'apprentissage de esxi6 et pour des raisons de coût je ne me suis pour l'instant pas lancé dans l'achat d'une licence vcenter.
Je possède 3 serveurs donc 3 esxi6 dans le même réseau mais je rencontre des problèmes de connexion . le serveur mettrait trop de temps à répondre ... Seul point commun avec les 3 esxi : la même licence gratuite , cela peut il être la cause de mes difficultés à accéder a l'administration de mes esxi ?

How to Perform Dynamic Update in HTML Plugin

we are developing a plugin, monitoring external objects. we are fetching state change for the (external) objects and want to reflect the same in the UI dynamically. I referred to Chassis-A sample object. where ActionResult.java is pushed to UI for edit,add but this is invoked only when we have started some Action from UI. My question is how can we dynamically push new state change from service layer to ui Layer(with or without using ActionResult.java) when the action is not invoked from UI.
